Expert's comment : Yves Tanguy joined the surrealist group in 1925. His mineral landscapes, linear horizons, supple cartilages, fascinating being-objects, dreamlike atmospheres where the unconscious wants to be sovereign are appreciated by Eluard. No wonder then that this print appears in the tribute book to Paul Eluard.

Biography of the artist : Raymond Georges Yves Tanguy, is a French surrealist painter and draftsman, born on January 5 in Paris. Sensitive to painting, it was a canvas by Giorgio De Chirico, seen in a gallery in Paris, that decided him to become a painter. His automatist experiences and his dreamlike landscapes brought him closer to the surrealists, a group he joined in 1925. He held his first personal exhibition in Paris in 1927 and participated from October to November 1933, in the 6th esalon des surindépendants, with the surrealist group.
