Expert commentary : As most of the artists of the new Paris school, Magdalena Reinharez is from Eastern Europe, she also arrives very young in France. Her training as a sculptor and then as a painter, she acquired in various workshops including those of Fernand Léger and André Lothe. She then forges her gaze on composition, volumes and shapes, which she will develop in her painting, drawing and sculpture work. The subjects of predilection of Maria Reinharez are the landscapes and the animals of which the horse which she particularly likes. But what inspires the artist the most in her works is the movement that she reproduces in a remarkable way both in her paintings, in her ink drawings and in her sculptures. In painting, the movement is reinforced by the contrast between the liveliness of the brushstroke and the choice of a palette of pastel colors. Her contemporaries consider her as a highly talented animal sculptor who knows how to restore both power and fragility in her subjects. His works on bullfighting once again show us the quality of the artist who knows how to show the contained power of the animal and the elegance of the bullfighter in a dramatic ballet. In his works, the artist oscillates between figurative and abstract to better convey his emotions to us and touch the viewer even before he understands their meaning. During her career, Magdanela Reinharez will obtain numerous prizes including the first prize of the Dome in 1955.
